Santa Clotilde Gardens

House of the Dragon is a prequel to Game of Thrones and was released on 21 August 2022. Lloret de Mar, specifically the Santa Clotilde Gardens, can be particularly identified in the second episode. Pre-production, filming and dismantling lasted a week and involved some 300 people. Fresco Films, which provided the production service in Spain, chose this location because of the spectacular combination of these noucentist gardens and its location above Cala Sa Boadella, an unspoilt cove with the characteristic Costa Brava landscape.

The Gardens of St. Clotilde simulate the gardens of Rhaenyra’s kingdom. Interesting information is that minimal props were made and that the confidentiality of the filming was so high that only a municipal gardener was allowed access.

The actors and actresses stayed at the boutique hotel Casa Coco and did not hesitate to take pictures with fans.

As a result of the filming, Lloret Town Council and Lloret Turisme launched a guided tour entitled “Gardens of the Dragon” in the summer of 2023, which was sold out throughout July and August.
